Lesson-1, The Wind Cap

Ans:- The fairy man offered Jon the wind-cap because Jon saved his life. [পরিমানব জনকে হাওয়া-টুপি দিয়েছিল কারণ জন তার জীবন বাঁচিয়েছিল।]

Ans:- No human hand would ever be able to take the wind cap off Jon's head. This was the condition associated with the wind-cap. The fairy man warned Jon by saying this. [কোনো মানুষের হাত হাওয়া-টুপিটি খুলে ফেলতে সক্ষম হবে না। হাওয়া-টুপিটির সঙ্গে জড়িত শর্ত ছিল এটাই। পরিমানব জনকে এই বলে সতর্ক করেছিল।]

Ans:- Jon could supply the wind that sailors called for. Thus, he became very popular with the sailors. [নাবিকরা যে বাতাস প্রত্যাশা করত জন তা সরবরাহ করতে পারত। সেজন্য সে নাবিকদের কাছে খুব জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছিল।]

Ans:- The wind had been whirling about the boat. It had begun to tear the sails and snap the spars. The sailors thought that Jon's wind cap was responsible for all this. The sailors, therefore, tried to rip off the cap from Jon's head in anger and fear. [ঝড় জাহাজটির চারদিকে পাক খেতে শুরু করেছিল। এটি পালগুলি ছিঁড়ে ফেলতে এবং মাস্তুলে আঘাত করে ভেঙে ফেলতে শুরু করল । নাবিকরা ভাবল জনের হাওয়া-টুপি এসবের জন্য দায়ী। নাবিকরা তাই রাগে এবং ভয়ে জনের মাথা থেকে টুপিটা টেনে খুলে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করল।]

Ans:- Jon spent half the year on a ship and half on the shore. In this way, Jon divided his time between land and sea. [জন বছরের অর্ধেকটা কাটাত জাহাজে এবং বাকি অর্ধেকটা তীরভূমিতে। এইভাবে সে তার সময় স্থলভূমি ও জলের মধ্যে ভাগ করেছিল।]

Ans:- Jon was rightly called Captain Turtle. I think so because Jon was as much at home on the water as he was on the land. [জনকে সঠিকভাবে ক্যাপটেন টার্টল বলা হত। আমি তাই মনে করি কারণ জন জলেও ডাঙার মতোই স্বচ্ছন্দ বোধ করত।]

Ans:- Jon had been blamed for the storm and thrown into the sea by his ship's captain. Jon wanted to return the wind cap to the fairy man because he did not want a repetition of this experience. [জনকে ঝড়ের জন্য দোষারোপ করা হয়েছিল এবং তার জাহাজের ক্যাপটেন তাকে ছুড়ে সমুদ্রে ফেলে দিয়েছিল। জন পরিমানবকে হাওয়া-টুপিটি ফিরিয়ে দিতে চেয়েছিল কারণ এই অভিজ্ঞতার পুনরাবৃত্তি আর সে চায়নি।]

Ans:- Jon begged to the captain to give him permission to go ashore just for one day. [ জন কেবলমাত্র একদিনের জন্য তীরে নামার অনুমতি দিতে ক্যাপ্টেনকে অনুরোধ করেছিল।]

 Ans:- On one quiet afternoon Jon lay fast asleep and fell to dreaming.[এক শান্ত বিকালে জন গভীর ঘুমে আচ্ছন্ন হয়েছিল এবং স্বপ্ন দেখতে শুরু করেছিল।]

Ans:- Jon saw in his dream that the seasons turned rapidly. [জন তার স্বপ্নের মধ্যে দেখেছিল। ঋতুগুলো খুব দ্রুত পরিবর্তিত হচ্ছিল।]

Ans:- With the twisting of Jon's cap a squall was called up from the clear sky that hit the ship without a warning.[ জনের টুপিতে মোচড় দেওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই পরিষ্কার আকাশ থেকে এক ভয়ংকর ঝড় আসে যা কোনো পূর্ব সতর্কতা ছাড়াই জাহাজে আঘাত করে।]

Ans:- The captain ordered his men to bring Jon before him. [ক্যাপ্টেন জনকে তাঁর সামনে নিয়ে আসার জন্য লোকজনকে আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন?]

Ans:- Jon wanted to be a sailor above all. Thus I support Jon's desire to go to the sea. [জন সর্বোপরি একজন নাবিক হতে চেয়েছিল। সেজন্য জনের সমুদ্রে যাওয়ার ইচ্ছাকে আমি সমর্থন করি।]

Ans:- I support Jon's mother because Jon's father was a farmer. And Jon had no experience of a sea voyage. [আমি জনের মাকে সমর্থন করি কারণ জনের বাবা ছিলেন কৃষক। এবং সমুদ্রযাত্রার কোনো অভিজ্ঞতা জনের ছিল না।]

Ans:- I agree with Jon because the magical cap was not an unmixed blessing. It also put him into trouble. Jon wanted to depend on his own experience while sailing. [আমি জনের সঙ্গে একমত কারণ ওই জাদু টুপিটি অবিমিশ্র আশীর্বাদ ছিল না। এটি তাকে সমস্যায় ফেলেছিল। জন সমুদ্রযাত্রার সময় নিজের অভিজ্ঞতার ওপর নির্ভর করতে চেয়েছিল।]

Ans:- The sailors realized that the cap Jon had was responsible for the danger they faced on the sea. [নাবিকরা বুঝতে পেরেছিল জনের যে টুপিটি আছে সেটিই সমুদ্রে তাদের বিপদের জন্য দায়ী।]

Ans:- Finally, Jon began to depend on his own experience, [অবশেষে, জন তার নিজের অভিজ্ঞতার ওপর নির্ভর করতে শুরু করল।]
